As shoppers embrace digital media, it is becoming more difficult to interrupt them with brand messages and promotional offers. Instead, shoppers increasingly use social media to seek ideas and make unplanned purchases. Jo-Ann Fabrics & Crafts has always inspired people in-store, and in fall 2016 the company expanded this approach online. This presentation will share how the teams at Jo-Ann and Ahaolgy utilized category trend data, consumer insights, inspirational content and an optimized Pinterest campaign to drive sales both online and in-store. Attendees will:

Ahalogy is a leading data-driven social media software startup that works with clients such as Procter & Gamble, Kraft and Mercedes. Previously, Gilbreath was a partner at Bridge Worldwide, a digital agency which was acquired by WPP. Post-acquisition, he became chief strategy officer of POSSIBLE. Gilbreath is the author of The Next Evolution of Marketing: Connect with your Customers by Marketing with Meaning (McGraw-Hill). His career started in marketing at P&G, where he launched Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and was named an Advertising Age Top 50 Marketer. He has an MBA in Marketing from NYU and a BA in Economics from Duke University.

Steve Miller is VP for Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores, the leading fabric and craft specialty retailer in America. Miller came to Jo-Ann from McKinsey & Co., where he served global clients as an engagement manager within the premier consulting firm’s marketing and sales practice. Prior to his time at McKinsey & Co. Miller contributed his insights and strategic outlook across channels of marketing, digital and programming divisions for a host of companies. He is also the co-founder and inventor of Tiggly, the first physical iPad toy for toddlers sold worldwide. Miller holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Rollins College and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
